What can I do to balance business life and relationships? In this week’s series special, Troy Hoffman confesses to not have yet been able to find the right balance in his life when it comes to successfully running a business and having successful relationships. Stay tuned for this truth-telling episode.

I know how you feel. You take time off of work to be with that special someone. You are enjoying each other’s company, watching the sunset while having a nice glass of wine. But in the back of your mind you are thinking about the countless emails that are piling up., and the fires you will have to put out once back to reality.

Honestly, this is an area of my life that I have not yet mastered. Yet, I do believe it is possible. I have seen many friends successfully balance their work and home lives. My brother also does it so well with his family and with work. I think part of it comes down to knowing what you really want.

I am guilty of allowing my body to fall apart. I gave in to my cigarette cravings. I had fast food for dinner way too many times. It came to a point where I found myself unable to sustain enough energy to keep up with my business and with my relationships. But there are a few things I would change and will do better the next time around:

  • prioritize my health and fitness
  • meditate
  • journal (writing clarifies thought)
  • express gratitude

The key to happiness is the relationships you build. I understand the importance of this and despite past failure, will continue my journey of ultimate success in every area of life.
